Due Dates Coming Up

Hey all...
I had not factored in the no-classes day this week, so now all lines need to be memorized by Tuesday, May 6 (homework category) rather than May 2.

Also, on Thursday, May 8, I will put in a homework grade for PROPS. Be sure that you have acquired and can bring in by then any prop your character uses (if the same prop is used by more than one character, it is the responsibility of the first character who uses it).

Finally, on Monday, May 12, you need to have your COSTUME ready and bring it to school.

It is completely up to you and your group how authentic or accurate you want to make your costume. She spirit of the show leaves much open to creative interpretation. The only way your grade can really suffer in this area is if it is obvious you did not think things through. For example, if you decide to tape a ruler and a pencil together to make a sword, then realize that it can't survive the swordfight. Or if you grab something from the drama room and call it your prop you will not get credit for it. PLAN AHEAD!
Good luck...
Terry

Lip Sync Assignment

Choose a song (or portion of a song) that is more than 90 seconds, but less than 3 minutes and construct a performance with it through lip-synching.
  • Do not dance
  • Do not pretend your are a singer or musician
  • Be a person saying these words as speaking to the audience or imaginary characters on stage
  • Your performance must involve some movement and a variety of facial expressions that connect with the context of the song.
  • Lyrics must be memorized

Beatles songs like “Elenore Rigby” or “Penny Lane” are a good choice, as are a lot of Disney movie songs; not the love ballads, but the fun one’s like “Be Our Guest”, “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” or “Pour Unfortunate Souls” (from Little Mermaid). But you can pick any song you want as long as it’s within the time limit and does not contain foul language. It’s okay if it’s the “clean” iTunes version of a song that was originally explicit.

The assignment is due – as in you will be performing it – on April 4

THEMES due

Hello budding playwrights. Please type up your one-sentence theme that we worked post it as a comment in this blog.
If you are not registered with this Blogger site or gmail, your post will say it's from "anonymous" so be sure to include your name in the post.
Remember, you don't need to say what you think the story or characters are going to be, you just need to provide a one-sentence theme.

Examples
The Mousetrap: Everyone has a secret. Or -- You can never escape the past.
Julius Caesar: Power corrupts. Or -- Good and evil can be hard to identify, depending on your perspective. Or -- Loyalty to one's friends is more powerful than loyalty to one's country

Everyone should give a big hand to all of those who were in The Mousetrap. They worked their butts off!
